I am a Jungian Analyst and graduated from the Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analysts. I am also a licensed clinical social worker with 30 years of counseling experience. I have an undergraduate degree in liberal arts from Willamette University where I engaged in humanistic studies including sociology, political science, literature, religion and philosophy. I have a deep interest in the human condition and this has guided my life journey. Through the years I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of people in a number of settings. This, along with my own emotional work, has deeply enriched my perspective. I have counseled extensively with adolescents and their families. I have spent many years working with women addressing the unique issues related to our gender. In the past I have been glad to work with men in the context of their relationships and in overcoming addictions. I have enjoyed work with blended families, couples and people of color. I work with children utilizing art and sand play. I currently have a full time practice in NW Portland.
I utilize a variety of techniques that allow me to be flexible to the needs of the person and the issue at hand. My approach is client-centered and and deeply informed by a Jungian perspective. A Jungian perspective brings healing to a deep and abiding places where true change and understanding can emerge. This deeper perspective allows me to delve below the problem to the underlying issues and meaning that present themselves in symptoms and challenging life situations. Addressing those deeper aspects allows for real change. I also am able to utilize CBT therapy, somatic therapies and practical problem solving. Some of the areas in which I work include:
- Anxiety disorders – Obsessive-Compulsive, Panic, and Agoraphobia
- PTSD and other Trauma Disorders
- Self-esteem and Self-Image Problems
- Marital and Relationship Conflicts
- Stress and Anger Management
- Seperation, Divorce and Blended Families
- Coaching through Major Life Transitions
